Smiles for Sunday

In all my many years of making squirrel friends, I have never been this close to this young of a squirrel before and this simple joy on my walk, made my day.  It was one of those simple joys that makes my heart keep smiling long after that walk and it certainly helped get me through a difficult week.  We had an Easter egg hunt last week, and it was as much fun for us older "kids" to hide the eggs as it was watching the little ones and bigger kids find them (this is Sophie, my great-neice, adding to her basket.)  Another simple joy this week was watching the chorus and band at the high school, getting ready for their competition day, which was yesterday.  I couldn't have picked a better spot to watch my daughter (Mary's right in the middle, front row!)  But when the boys came out to join all the girls for their songs, it was harder to see her, they surrounded her, but I could see her smile as she sang...beautiful.

Psalm 128:5
May the Lord continually bless you with heaven's blessings as well as with human joys.

  1. How cute! We had two squirrels in our yard a few months ago. I don't see them anymore. New holes in the ground keep showing up so I know their okay. I always leave food out for them.

  2. How wonderful, Gloria! It is so fun to watch them find the eggs, but you are right, it is most fun to hide them!

  4. Love the baby squirrel - too bad Emily wasn't outside with you, haha! Your niece is so sweet. I am thankful for simple things that give us joy! A co-worker brought her 3 month old baby to work this week to visit - so wonderful to see his big smiles! I hope you have a good week. :)
