Dream of the Universe on Saturday

Yummy cupcakes and interesting looking nails...can only mean one thing around here this time of year.  We have had 3 birthdays in our family this week, one of them was for my daughter.  The nail polish is called galaxy and looks like an abstract of the universe on her nails, very fitting when you are turning 16, don't you think?

Allow everything else to vanish
save and except your cherished dreams.
For your cherished dreams
are treasured sleeplessly
by God Himself.

Simple joys of a Tuesday

This spring seems to be getting ahead of me...lilacs in March?  I'm really enjoying some evening walks since it has been so warm and of course, the time change lets me enjoy the sunshine even longer.  I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed with this job, but thankful to be learning something new each dayIt's the simple joys of watching my little squirrel friends play, the wonderful fragrances of the budding flowers and having a good laugh that makes an ordinary Tuesday feel so special.

Some Pink Cookies for Saturday

These are pink lemonade cookies and they smell amazing while they are still warm.  I wish I could take credit for inventing these...why didn't I think of that?  Yes, that pop-n-fresh guy must have seen me coming.  They even make pink lemonade frosting so you can make cookie sandwiches, or get the cake mix and make cupcakes or a frosted cake.  That sounded like a bit too much of pink lemonade sweetness for me so I thought I'd try making the cookies first.  I thought I should take a photo...who would believe I made pink cookies and it's not even Easter yet?  A simple joy for the day...not sure if they will last until tomorrow but we will enjoy and I will have all week to walk it off, my new job involves a lot of running up and down stairs.

Something fun on Saturday

One of my favorite things about visiting the museum, other than their wonderful exhibits, is getting to see different traditions from cultures around the world.  It was "World Fest" day there today so we were lucky enough to see traditional Indian dancing and a concert by a beautiful Japanese woman, wearing a lavendar kimono, playing a shamisen.  There was a Japanese cherry blossom branch next to her and it seemed like spring, so lovely, even though we are having snow flurries today.
We are so busy in our every day lives that it's a must to be able to slow down for a time and really enjoy these kind of traditions, a simple joy that's fun to share.
