Happy Earth Day!

We grew up, different personalities, same parents, different decades...sisters.  This is a photo of myself (on the right) and my sister last weekend.  I am so thankful to have her in my life and family.

Our siblings.  They resemble us just enough to make all their differences confusing, and no matter what we choose to make of this, we are cast in relation to them our whole lives long.

Smiles for Sunday

In all my many years of making squirrel friends, I have never been this close to this young of a squirrel before and this simple joy on my walk, made my day.  It was one of those simple joys that makes my heart keep smiling long after that walk and it certainly helped get me through a difficult week.  We had an Easter egg hunt last week, and it was as much fun for us older "kids" to hide the eggs as it was watching the little ones and bigger kids find them (this is Sophie, my great-neice, adding to her basket.)  Another simple joy this week was watching the chorus and band at the high school, getting ready for their competition day, which was yesterday.  I couldn't have picked a better spot to watch my daughter (Mary's right in the middle, front row!)  But when the boys came out to join all the girls for their songs, it was harder to see her, they surrounded her, but I could see her smile as she sang...beautiful.

Psalm 128:5
May the Lord continually bless you with heaven's blessings as well as with human joys.

Spring Flowers on Saturday

Spring colors are so cheerful, they take the drab right out of a gray wall. I absolutely enjoy all these pretty spring flowers that are blooming all around and so happy to have our spring weather again. The bunnies are out and about and we consider all of them to be Easter bunnies. Emily watches the little birds outside our window...meanwhile, these big geese are making nests everywhere near the pond and people are afraid to walk around the parking lot at work because the geese there are making nests too. I think it's a nice distraction (my mind is frazzled and ears ringing by the end of the day.) The Easter bunny is busy preparing for tomorrow. I'm not in the least prepared (no chocolate or coloring eggs yet?) but looking forward to some quiet and being in a peaceful least until the singing and rejoicing begins.   Happy Easter and enjoy the simple joys of the day.
